Julia Walk is a multimedia artist from Munich. She graduated in 2022 as a master student of Professor Peter Kogler at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. In her artistic work, she deals with bodies, gender issues and pop culture. By questioning socially constructed body norms and stereotypes, she creates multi-layered installations, performances and objects. Her aesthetics are brightly colored, an artificial finish contrasts the physical-organic surfaces. The works often have a humorous quality that lends accessibility and lightness to the feminist discourse inherent in them. The exchange and communication with the viewer is very important to the artist. Since 2021, she has been publishing a bi-weekly podcast that analyzes high and pop culture products from a feminist perspective in an entertaining way – Die Funalyse. In 2023 Julia Walk received the audience award PERSPEKTIVEN, Förderpreis für junge Kunst des Kunstclub13 e.V in cooperation with PLATTFORM as well as the prize of the Akademie der bildenden Künste München from the scholarship fund.
